Some Letters From Local Grant Recipients
Undue Medical Debt has strict confidentiality rules, which means that we do not know whose debt we are buying -- just that they qualify for forgiveness due to their low income or the debt-to-income ratio, and that they live in the county we are targeting. We're fine with that! But in some cases, individuals reach out to say "Thank You!"
I have been struggling for about four years after a work injury that has caused me to be disabled. It all started in 2018, when I was a single mom. One month after my injury, I was rear-ended by another driver and totaled my car. I thank God I wasn't more seriously injured. After spending the small settlement I received from my work injury and experiencing the car accident, I was left with no income. Three months later, my youngest son graduated high school and underwent two major surgeries. I thank God everyday for his recovery. In 2021, my dad was diagnosed with stage 3 lung cancer, and I thank God everyday that he is with us. Two years ago I applied for disability. That was a long process during which I was evicted from my home.
I share my story because when I opened my letter, I was in tears! Thank you so much for the wonderful blessing and gift.

I really wish to know the kind souls and persons who have done this for me and my family. Due to our situation, it is very financially difficult for us to pay any medical bills. Me and my wife are not able to even have regular physicals due to the fact that we do not have medical insurance. When we do have to [seek care], it's only to be able to renew prescription drugs I need to keep my blood pressure in check. Upfront payments have to go on our credit cards which are now maxed out. We cannot say thank you enough for this gift of debt elimination. Thank you so very much for your help!

At first, I thought the envelope I received was going to be from another debt collector. To my surprise and relief, it was the exact opposite! It was a letter from Undue Medical Debt informing me the Debt Jubilee Project had paid off not one but two of my medical debts. This couldn't have come at a better time and I couldn't be more grateful. I am currently in the process of fixing my credit so that I can buy a house. This blessing has brought me that much closer to my dream. Thank you so much. You guys work miracles.

Thank you, Trinity Moravian Church and Undue Medical Debt. It means a lot to me that $1,071.00 has been paid and put out of collections. I'm trying to get my own place, and my credit score isn't too good because of medical bills. I'm unable to work now because of my health. I am [waiting] on disability, and have no insurance coverage to pay off any debt. So again, thank you all so much. God will bless you all with more money, or with whatever you need because you have helped me and plenty of other people.
