The Summer 2025 campaign for Debt Jubilee Project has been announced. We hope to raise $15,000 over six weeks to purchase and forgive all the currently available debt in FORSYTH, GUILFORD, DAVIE, DAVIDSON, and STOKES counties – totaling $2,980,086! Since we often go over our goal, any overflow will be used to purchase debts in nearby Surry, Yadkin, and Wilkes counties. The campaign will launch Friday, August 1 and close on Monday, September 15.

BACKGROUND:
Several years ago, Trinity Moravian Church began a campaign to purchase – and forgive – past-due medical debts owed by our neighbors in Forsyth and the surrounding counties of North Carolina. The Debt Jubilee Project has succeeded beyond our wildest expectations, and at this point we have been able to eliminate over $21 million in medical debts owed by 15,000 families in our area. The campaign has received national and international attention, and helped to inspire an innovative program in NC that provided incentives for hospital systems to forgive past-due debts and improve their assistance of lower-income patients. This has “shaken loose” some debts that previously were not available for purchase.
